While Holding Position and Adjusting Position Ki Value Motor Ramps to Full Speed

Corrected Anomaly with PowerFlex 755TL/TR/TM and PowerFlex 755TS Firmware Revision 13.002

If holding a zero position and the position regulator integral gain parameter (10/11:1757 [u PReg Ki]) is set to any non-zero value, the motor ramps to full speed and the drive produces an ‘OverSpeed Limit’ fault (10010 or 11010). This firmware revision corrects this anomaly.

Known Anomalies in This Release

This release has the following known anomalies.

Inadequate Power Loss Indication for Coast State in Motor Side Status 2 Bits

Known Anomaly First Identified as of PowerFlex 755TL/TR/TM Firmware Revision 13.002

Known Anomaly First Identified as of PowerFlex 755TS Firmware Revision 13.002

The following bits in parameter 10:355 [Motor Side Sts 2] do not correctly indicate a power loss state for all scenarios.

It is expected that bit 15 turns on for both “coast” and “continue” states to signal power loss effectively.

Open Loop Feedback Irregularities and Motor Jump on Initial Start

Known Anomaly First Identified as of PowerFlex 755TL/TR/TM Firmware Revision 12.001

Known Anomaly First Identified as of PowerFlex 755TS Firmware Revision 12.001

PowerFlex® 755T drives configured in position direct mode with open loop feedback exhibit erratic behavior on the first start after a power cycle where the motor “jumps.” At the first start after a power cycle, a sudden change in limited torque reference causes the motor to move to a position and then return to the initial start position. This behavior stabilizes on subsequent starts without requiring a power cycle.

Drive Runs at Slip RPM and Current Limit When Running in Flux Vector Motor Control with an Encoder

Known Anomaly First Identified as of PowerFlex 755TL/TR/TM Firmware Revision 13.002

Known Anomaly First Identified as of PowerFlex 755TS Firmware Revision 13.002

When operating in Flux Vector Control (FVC) mode with an encoder, a PowerFlex® 755T drive incorrectly runs at slip RPM and reaches current limit. This anomaly occurs because the encoder signal is not being properly transmitted across the backplane system to the motor control loop.

Moving the encoder card to another slot or replacing the main control board has resolved the issue in reported cases. Drives using series B main control circuit boards do not experience this anomaly.

This anomaly is corrected for single encoder and duel encoder cards when the control pod backplane circuit boards are replaced in affected drives within the manufacturing date range as stated in the Product Identification section of this notification: Product Notice - 2026-01-001 – Allen‑Bradley® PowerFlex® 755TS, 755TL, 755TR, and 755TM Drives and Bus Supplies, When Used with Specific Option Cards, May Exhibit Power Up Anomalies

Additionally, see the Rockwell Automation Knowledgebase article “PowerFlex 755TS running Flux Vector with encoder is pulling high amps and is not turning (Autotune) or turning slowly” (QA76260) for more information.

Digital Output Momentarily Energizes During Drive Power-up

Known Anomaly First Identified as of PowerFlex 755TL/TR/TM Firmware Revision 14.001

Known Anomaly First Identified as of PowerFlex 755TS Firmware Revision 14.001

A digital output will momentarily energize during power-up if it is configured to follow a bit that is normally on (one) and is set to invert the logic of that bit.

For example, consider the configuration where the first relay output on an IO card in slot 5 is set to follow the Brake Set bit in the Torque Prove Status parameter, and the logic is inverted:

If the signal from this digital output is used to release a brake in a torque-proving application, such as within a crane or hoist, the brake will momentarily release during the drive's power-up.

To avoid this undesirable behavior in the above torque-proving example, configure the digital output to follow the Brake Release bit instead of the Brake Set bit in the Torque Prove Status parameter without inverting the logic:
