  .NET Control supports reusable and custom Windows Forms and WPF controls, which can be used in FactoryTalk View applications for their property, method, and event functions.
• New data grid data source: data log model
  Data grid supports data log models stored in file sets as a new data source, displaying data log information in a tabular format.
• Synchronization of HMI tag values in a redundant system
  FactoryTalk View SE adds an option that automatically synchronizes the HMI memory tag values between the active and standby HMI servers.
• Client-specific tags for network applications
  Client tags are memory tags specific to each client and user session in a distributed system. Client tags support client-specific behavior, such as animation, object visibility, or custom navigation menus.
• FactoryTalk System Status Portal
  A new webpage that provides an overview of all FactoryTalk application servers and their statuses, including HMI servers, FactoryTalk Alarms and Events servers, and data servers. This portal is installed with FactoryTalk Services Platform by customized installation.
• FactoryTalk Batch View HMI controls
  FactoryTalk Batch View HMI controls are included in the FactoryTalk View installation, including BatchesList, PromptsList, SFC, and FullView.

  The Cross Reference form adds the function to search object names.
• Horizontal or vertical position animation available for more objects
  FactoryTalk View SE expands horizontal or vertical position animation for more objects, such as images and panels.
• Login and Logout commands
  In a multi-monitor deployment, instead of opening on the main monitor, Login and Logout dialog boxes open on the monitor where the Login and Logout commands are called from.
• Application Documenter
  Application Documenter supports the export of application information with commands.
• Accepted and Rejected events
  The button, numeric input, and string input objects contain the Accepted and Rejected events in VBA for the electronic signature function.

The following list identifies the anomalies corrected in FactoryTalk View SE version 13.00.00.

• In certain cases, Tag Browser may not respond when selecting a tag. First reported in version 10.00.00. [Jira 1096077]
• After clicking a button very quickly multiple times to switch between displays, the display client stops responding. First reported in version 8.00.00. [Jira 1068394]
• If data logging is configured to purge the oldest records at midnight, data logging stops when the records are being deleted. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1388792]
• Running global object compilation cannot compile all the displays and global objects due to the comma (,) used in the display name. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1336540]
• The percentage sign (%) disappears in the caption of a multistate indicator or a list indicator when used with global object parameters. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1480161]
• In the multi-monitor deployment, the Login dialog box always shows on the primary monitor regardless of which monitor the Login or Logout command runs on. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1232807]
• If a TrendPro template has two or more traces whose y-axes are positioned at different locations, resetting the axes and then applying the template does not restore the y-axes' positions saved in the template. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 856387]
• When navigating between screens, images might show as blue boxes on the display client. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 1009691]
• The tag name is truncated in the tag name list of the Highlight Settings dialog box if the tag name is too long. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 888590]
• Rockwell Application Services (RsvcHost) remains in the starting state because the entry of the URL name and local cache file path in the Index.dat file is broken into multiple lines. First reported in version 10.00.00. [Jira 977498]
• In a FactoryTalk View SE client, if a button object on a display changes to a disabled state, the button may show as enabled after closing and reopening the display. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1377480]
• If electronic signature for the button, numeric input, or string input objects is used, the Accepted and Rejected events are not available in VBA. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1294385]
• Clicking the Save button does not save the changes made to the Trigger Value or Message boxes in a local message file. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 986955]
• If a graphic display is partially cut off by the FactoryTalk View SE client window, the display is automatically repositioned to fit within the client window when running the FactoryTalk View SE client. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 943861]
• After running the DerivedOff and DerivedOn command, DerivedTags.exe stops responding. First reported in version 10.00.00. [Jira 529384]
• A TrendPro template from a different application cannot be loaded in TrendPro. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 851117]
• The messages logged in FactoryTalk Diagnostics are limited to 500 characters. Messages longer than 500 characters are truncated. The comment in the Command Wizard for the Remark command is limited to 120 characters. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1453116]
• When remotely accessing the FactoryTalk View SE client computer with DeskLock enabled from a computer with dual monitors of different sizes, after you move the remote screen from the smaller monitor to the bigger one, the FactoryTalk View SE client does not scale correctly upon maximizing the screen. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 1314434]
• In a multi-monitor deployment, a new dialog box of a TrendPro or Trend object appears on the primary monitor instead of the monitor where the object is on. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1269674]
• A docked display can be undocked by double-clicking the topmost one-pixel line of the display. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1366662]
• The FactoryTalk View SE client may unexpectedly close after navigating from a display that contains one or more local message display objects. First reported in version 10.00.00. [Jira 1320999]
• It is possible to change the tag value for a disabled numeric input object if it has focus prior to being disabled. The numeric input object remains in a state that allows tag updates even if the input focus is switched to another object on the display. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1272917]
• In a multi-monitor deployment where the displays are configured not to allow multiple copies, if a display is already open on a top monitor and the same display is launched from the bottom monitor, the position of that display is shifted up on the bottom monitor. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1274804]
• If a button object configured to toggle a certain bit has visibility animation control from a second toggle button, when it becomes visible, the state returns to 0 even if the controlling bit is still 1. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1273774]
• A display containing a global object with brackets ([ ]) in the name can be exported but cannot be imported using the XML format. First reported in version 10.00.00. [Jira 1194073]
• Image objects on a graphic display may show as blue boxes after running for a while. First reported in version 10.00.00. [Jira 1175130]
• In FactoryTalk Diagnostics, the audience level of a signature button is Operator instead of Operator & Secured. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1156212]
• If the region and language settings of Windows are changed where the decimal symbol is changed from a period (.) to a comma (,), the legend on a Trend object may display the incorrect decimal symbol in the tag values. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1156241]
• If a FactoryTalk View SE application uses the Trend object in one of the global objects, the global object parameter configured within the Trend object may not evaluate correctly after the global objects are compiled. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1166801]
• If you configure a numeric or string input object on a display that is docked when running the FactoryTalk View SE client, values entered in the numeric or string input object cannot be downloaded. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1120247]
• After FactoryTalk View SE is upgraded from version 7.00 to version 11.00, an error occurs when passing the percent character (%) as a parameter to a macro. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 1072971]
• If the patch for FTAStub.dll version 7.8.02 from Knowledgebase Document ID: BF26340 - Patch: Activation generates divergent data for fault tolerant systems, FactoryTalk View 11.0 is installed, an error message may appear when opening FactoryTalk View Studio. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 1072558]
• When browsing alarm and event tags on a TrendPro object, not all subgroups show in the list if the subgroups have the same name. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1004572]
• With the TrendPro object configured to use automatic data retrieval, an erroneous line may show in addition to the actual line if the number of pens is more than 16. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 1021716]
• When a global object has global object parameters configured in the grouped object and its subgroup, some global objects in a graphic display may show as wireframed after compiling. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 1009139]
• The ActiveX signature button's terminal client name does not show in FactoryTalk Diagnostics as configured in the policy settings. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 889856]
• A fatal error may happen to FactoryTalk View SE client when using VBA to load a display with the ShowDisplay method and global objects are referenced in the display. First reported in version 10.00.00. [Jira 953251]
• If running a Replace type of display any time after running a Login command, and the Replace type of display overlaps a display configured to be On Top and Cannot Be Replaced, the On Top and Cannot Be Replaced display will close. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 940120]
• A FactoryTalk View SE application upgraded to version 11.00 or later may take longer to navigate between displays. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 948723]
• When a FactoryTalk View SE client has a display with a Local Message Display object and the Use variable message file option is selected, edits to the local message file cannot be saved after a display has been previously opened where the local message file was used. First reported in version 10.00.00. [Jira 877091]
• In certain cases, if the secondary HMI server in a FactoryTalk View SE application is started, the secondary HMI server may remain in the starting state. First reported in version 9.00.00. [Jira 898530]

• When data logging is configured to log to a remote computer, after changing the current logged-on account from an administrator to a standard user, the DataLogOn command cannot be run. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 1002629]
  To resolve this issue, follow the steps to add the user in the ServerFramework DCOM security setting:
  1. On the computer on which you plan to run data logging, click Start > Run.
  2. In the Open box, type dcomcnfg, and then press Enter.
  3. In the Component Services window, on the left side, double-click Component Services > Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config.
  4. In the Applications list, under DCOM Config, right-click ServerFramework, and then click Properties.
  5. In the ServerFramework Properties dialog box, click the Security tab.
  6. Select Customize for all the properties on the Security tab.
  7. For each property, click Edit, add the user, and then grant all permissions for the user.

• Changes made to the LinkAnimation, LinkConnections, LinkSize, or LinkToolTipText property do not work on existing reference objects. First reported in version 13.00.00. [Jira 1197803]
  The changes will work on newly created reference objects.

• If FactoryTalk Batch View is installed with the default port 443, and then FactoryTalk View SE is installed with HTTPS enabled on the same computer, which also configures port 443, this will cause a port conflict. As a result, FactoryTalk Batch View client and HMI user controls cannot communicate with the FactoryTalk Batch View server. First reported in version 13.00.00. [Jira 1525370]
  To resolve this issue, after the installation, change the port number used by FactoryTalk View SE in:
  • Site binding in Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
  • FactoryTalk View SE's HTTPS protocol properties in FactoryTalk Administration Console

• Applying color animations to an object group as well as to the individual objects in the group causes unexpected behaviors. First reported in version 8.00.00. [346758]
  To set up color animations for an object group, either apply the color animations to the group, or to the individual objects in the group.

• If a FactoryTalk View SE datalog becomes disconnected from a remote ODBC database and then eventually becomes reconnected, it fails to continue logging data to the ODBC database. First reported in version 8.20.00. [359289]
  To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:
  1. In the datalog configuration, specify a backup ODBC database. If a disconnection occurs to the primary ODBC database, the logging of data will now continue to the backup ODBC database.
  2. The connection to the primary ODBC database has recovered and you do not have a backup ODBC database configured. To make the datalog resume logging to the primary ODBC database, issue the command Datalogoff <name of datalog> and then the command Datalogon <name of datalog>.
     For additional information, see Knowledgebase Document ID: BF10231 - FactoryTalk View SE datalog fails to continue when disconnected and reconnected to a remote ODBC database.

• When Alarm and Event Log Viewer is opened from the FactoryTalk View SE Client but cannot get events from the SQL Server database, the FactoryTalk View SE Client does not respond for a few minutes. First reported in version 7.00.00. [344892]
  To resolve this problem, on the toolbar of Alarm and Event Log Viewer, click Stop to stop reading events from the database.

• When login from ThinManager directly to FactoryTalk View SE Client, some warnings about the password do not show on FactoryTalk View SE Client. For example, the password expires or will expire, or the password needs to be changed. First reported in version 10.00.00. [367304]
  To resolve the issue, check messages in FactoryTalk Diagnostics and follow the instructions accordingly.

• When multiple SE clients are launched simultaneously on the same computer, the startup of the SE clients may not respond at the Loading Command Server stage. First reported in version 8.10.00. [368162]
  To resolve this issue, create a Windows batch file and add a Pause 5 command between the launch of each SE client file. This will allow the start of each SE client to be offset from each other.

• Timeout may occur when you perform backup or restore operation through an unstable or slow network. First reported in version 8.10.00. [355276]
  To resolve this issue, open the Registry Editor of the computer that runs the tool, update the registry key CompressTimeout to a value larger than 1200 and try again. The key is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Rockwell Software\RSView Enterprise\DistributeApplicationManager\Settings.

• During the restore operation, when overwriting components of a running HMI server, some components of the server may still exist in the HMI folder after you restart the computer. This happens when the names of these components do not exist in the archived HMI file. First reported in version 8.10.00. [354220]

• There is a possibility that some object properties that are configured in character sets for east Asian languages such as Chinese or Japanese, will display a question mark in the result list when you use the Find and Replace, Cross Reference or Undo feature. First reported in version 7.00.00. [338894]
  To resolve this problem, go to Control Panel > Regional and Language Options, and select the appropriate language to match the language version desired.

• When registering or unregistering an ActiveX Control object in FactoryTalk View Studio with User Account Control (UAC) enabled on the operating system, an error message shows. First reported in version 8.00.00. [346124]
  To avoid this problem, before registering or unregistering an ActiveX Control object, do one of the following:
  • Turn off UAC and restart the computer
  • Run FactoryTalk View Studio as administrator

• If you copy and paste a PNG image into an application, the image might appear blurred. First reported in version 7.00.00. [337726]
  To avoid this issue, import the image into the Image folder first, and then insert the image into the application from the Image folder.

• VBA execution may pause temporarily while an HMI server is replicating. First reported in version 7.00.00. [361749]

• During replication some project information may fail to replicate to secondary servers. First reported in version 8.00.00. [347733]
  To resolve this issue, restart these secondary servers and replicate again. If the replication still fails, cancel the redundancy configuration and delete HMI project from secondary servers, restart secondary servers, and configure the redundancy again.

• If you configure NIC speed remotely to Auto, (rather than to 100 Mb Full), it doubles the amount of time to open the tag editor. First reported in version 6.10.00. [270579]
  To avoid this issue, we recommend that you configure NIC speed to the highest value possible.

• When running FactoryTalk View SE redundant applications on Windows 10 Professional or Enterprise v1607 operating systems, initiating a network connectivity break by disabling NIC adaptors in Device Manager can cause application failures requiring a restart of the application. This issue was introduced in the Windows 10 v1607 feature build. First reported in version 9.00.00. [363223]
  To avoid this problem, run the Microsoft Hotfix KB3201845 outlined in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3201845.
  Alternatively, you can run Windows 10 v1703 or other supported operating systems where this issue is not present.

• If IPv6 is not supported or is disabled in your network environment, when you use FactoryTalk View Studio on Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 R2, or Windows Server 2012, the network communication performance may be slow. First reported in version 8.00.00. [347310]
  To resolve this issue, you may need to disable IPv6 on your computer or enable IPv6 in your network environment. Contact your IT department for details.

• If your system is experiencing HMI tag failures and wireframing, you may have a port conflict. Check the event log for the message: "Unable to establish connection with Live Data using TCP/IP protocol. Port may be in use by another process." The HMI tag failures could occur on any operating system due to dynamic port range changes. First reported in version 5.10.00. [264248]
  To resolve this, you will need to manually change the port. For additional information on how to do this, see Knowledgebase Document ID: QA7128 - FactoryTalk View Site Edition: Unable to establish connection with Live Data using TCP/IP protocol.

• On Microsoft Surface tablets, the press and hold gesture may not open a component's menu if the component is a text box. First identified in FactoryTalk View 9.00.00. [362400]
  To work around this problem, use a mouse and right-click the component to open the menu.

• Updating to the new KEPServer Enterprise version, V5.7, may require updating the OPC Data Server configuration after a restoring an application file. First reported in version 6.10.00. [276028]
  To resolve this issue, on the OPC Data Server configuration tab, update the computer name then restart the computer before browsing for the new Prog ID for KEPServer Enterprise.

• Timeout may occur when you try to load large amounts of data points from an ODBC data source such as SQL Server, and the Trend object does not show the historical data. First reported in version 7.00.00. [343026]
  To resolve this issue, open the Registry Editor, update the key DatalogOdbcDbTimeout to a larger value in the following two locations, and try again:

  HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Rockwell Software\RSView Enterprise\Data Log

  HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Rockwell Software\RSView Enterprise\Data Log

• When switching from Daylight Saving Time back to Standard Time, you will see two 1:00 hours on the trend chart of a TrendPro object. If you trend data from data logs, one hour data is not displayed on the trend chart and seems to be lost. All data actually is in the database and no data is lost. First reported in version 9.00.00. [363699]
  To view the data that is not displayed, add a real-time trace to the chart. For more information, see Knowledgebase Document ID: QA4519 - Trends and Daylight Saving Time (DST).

• HMI project folder does not replicate to secondary HMI Server. This issue can be caused by a couple of situations. One cause could be the size of the HMI project file being larger than the maximum allowable file transfer size. The other cause could be the replication taking longer than the default time limit of 20 minutes.
  To resolve this issue, change the limit size to an acceptable value or set the limit time to a larger value. For more instructions, see Knowledgebase Document ID: QA3577 - FactoryTalk View Site Edition HMI Project Replication Process Steps.

• The reference object of a momentary button shows an incorrect initial state when the display containing the reference object is run on the FactoryTalk View SE client. First reported in version 11.00.00. [Jira 845437]
  After pressing the momentary button, the state returns to normal.

• At runtime, the context menu of Trend cannot be shown on the screen when trying to trigger by pen or finger. First reported in version 12.00.00. [Jira 42333]
  Use a mouse or another pointing device to access the context menu of the Trend.

• Unable to change the historian server on a TrendX object for pens in the Model column. First reported in version 10.00.00. [Jira 42006]
  There is no workaround for this anomaly. However, TrendPro supports the change of the historian server from the configuration page.

FactoryTalk View SE version 13.00.00 has the following changes in functionality since the last release.

HTTPS enabled by default

If you install Studio Enterprise, Site Edition Server, or FactoryTalk ViewPoint SE on a computer with no FactoryTalk View component installed, the installation enables HTTPS by default.

If HTTPS is enabled, you must configure a TLS certificate after installation. If you do not configure the certificate, there will be unexpected errors when operating FactoryTalk View SE components. For details on configuring a TLS certificate, see FactoryTalk View Site Edition Installation Guide.

The following are the application notes for FactoryTalk View SE version 13.00.00.

HTTPS enabled by default

If you install Studio Enterprise, Site Edition Server, or FactoryTalk ViewPoint SE on a computer with no FactoryTalk View component installed, the installation enables HTTPS by default.

If HTTPS is enabled, you must configure a TLS certificate after installation. If you do not configure the certificate, there will be unexpected errors when operating FactoryTalk View SE components. For details on configuring a TLS certificate, see FactoryTalk View Site Edition Installation Guide.

Mitigation for Microsoft DCOM Hardening patch

In response to Microsoft Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) Hardening patch (MS KB5004442), the minimum DCOM authentication level used by Rockwell Automation products was raised to Packet Integrity.

Microsoft releases the DCOM Hardening patch in response to CVE-2021-26414. This patch elevates the minimum DCOM authentication level that is required to establish a DCOM connection. DCOM is used by many Rockwell Automation products and may be affected by the change that is made by the Microsoft patch. For additional information about the affected Rockwell Automation products, see the Knowledgebase Document ID: PN1581 - Product Notification 2022-01-001 - Rockwell Automation products unable to establish proper DCOM connection after installing Microsoft DCOM Hardening patch (MS KB5004442).

Change in operating system support

Beginning in this release, the product installer prevents installation on all 32-bit versions of Windows operating systems (for example, Windows 10, 32-bit) and any Windows 7 operating system (for example, Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit).

Considerations for application server host computers

In a network application, it is possible for a single server computer that meets the recommended requirements to host all of the following components:

• One FactoryTalk View SE Server
• One FactoryTalk Linx data server (which can also be set up as FactoryTalk Alarms and Events device-based alarm server, or also includes the secondary data server)
• One FactoryTalk Alarms and Events tag-based alarm server
• The FactoryTalk Network Directory

If a network application requires multiple HMI servers, data servers, or alarm servers, to distribute the load, it is recommended that you install the necessary software and run the servers on multiple host computers.

FactoryTalk Diagnostics

FactoryTalk Diagnostics cannot log to a remote database using Microsoft Access. You can only log to a local database using Microsoft Access.

Find and Replace

If an HMI server at the root node of an SE Network distributed application has the same name as the application itself, the Find and Replace feature search results might include the application name even though you performed the search at the HMI server level.

Floating-point operations

Floating-point numbers may not precisely represent all real numbers. Floating points only has six digits of precision. As a result, expressions based on floating-point arithmetic operations may not evaluate as expected. This is a side effect of how the CPU represents the floating-point data. For this reason, in certain cases you may experience loss of precision and get unexpected results of floating-point operations.

KEPServer

If you are using KEPServer Enterprise as an OPC server with FactoryTalk View version 9.00.00 or later and using an HMI tag to connect to a third-party device, you will not be able to access the tag value. The cause is that the security enhancements in FactoryTalk View version 9.00.00 or later affect the communications with third-party devices. To access the tag value, additional Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) configuration is required for KEPServer Enterprise on the computers.

Pre-installation configuration

Before you install FactoryTalk View SE, there are a number of steps required to set up the installation environment. This will help ensure that the installation proceeds smoothly and that your new or upgraded FactoryTalk system operates as expected. For detailed information about pre-requisites before installation, see Chapter 3, Pre-installation configuration of FactoryTalk View Site Edition Installation Guide.

Security requirements

System sizing recommendations

When you design and set up a FactoryTalk system, we recommend using the following guidelines. If you find that your system needs to expand beyond these guidelines, contact your Rockwell Automation sales or distributor representative to discuss your application design.

Tag Browser

If you rename an HMI server while you are deploying an application, you may need to restart the computer in order to have the HMI tags show up in the Tag Browser.

Tools and utilities

• In the DeskLock utility, all Windows hot keys are disabled except the Windows Logo + L combination, which still locks the Windows Desktop.
• In the Tag Import and Export Wizard, you are recommended to close the running project while importing a tag CSV file containing large amounts of tags and alarms. Otherwise, you will need to wait a few minutes and the Server Busy Dialog box may pop up.

Trend objects

The Trend objects cannot get the oldest data from FactoryTalk Historian server when you click the Oldest Data button.

TrendPro objects

• Clicking on the X-axis or Y-axis takes it into the free layout mode. In this case, anything done to the canvas is how you want it and it does not resize. The free mode does not persist scale and removes tags from the trend. Avoid using the free mode in the trend.

UAC support

Turning off User Account Control (UAC) is not recommended.

VeriSign Universal Root Certification Authority certificate

If the VeriSign Universal Root Certification Authority certificate does not exist on the local computer, the certificate is installed while installing Rockwell Automation software. Use Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to view the certificate in Console Root > Certificates (Local Computer) > Trusted Root Certification Authorities > Certificates.

Unattended installation

Use command-line parameters to perform an unattended or silent installation of the software.

Command-line parameters

The following table identifies the installation command-line parameters. Command-line parameters are case-insensitive. However, if a specified value includes a space, be sure to enclose the value in quotation marks (for example, "value with spaces").
