Drives Kinetix 5700 Servo System Dual-axis Modules; (2198-Dxxx-ERS3)
Version 7.011 (released 6/2019)
Catalog Number Kinetix 5700 Dual-axis Module (series A)
These release notes describe version information for Kinetix 5700 Dual-axis Module, version 7.011 (released 6/2019).
Features
This release includes the following system features.
Kinetix 5700 Dual-axis Modules Firmware Revision 7.011 Enhancements
Catalog Numbers 2198-D006-ERS3, 2198-D012-ERS3, 2198-D020-ERS3,
2198-D032-ERS3,2198-D057-ERS3
Improved incremental feedback fault validation to eliminate false M07 incremental feedback count
faults. (Lgx 00194471)
Reduced the time for ControlFlash to load firmware to the drive. See Knowledgebase article 1086816
for more information. (Lgx00209222)
For the generic thermal motor model, the drive derates the motor linearly from 20 to 0 Hz. In some
instances, the motor can handle full load amps at frequencies below 20 Hz. With this release, a user
can reduce the Motor Overload Derating Frequency at which the drive begins to derate the motor. The
drive will not derate the motor if the frequency is set to 0 Hz. The frequency can be configured with a
MSG instruction. See Knowledgebase article 1088036. (Lgx00220627)
Corrected Anomalies in This Release
This release corrects the following anomalies.
Kinetix 5700 Dual-axis Modules Firmware Revision 7.011 Corrected Anomalies
Catalog Numbers: 2198-D006-ERS3, 2198-D012-ERS3, 2198-D020-ERS3,
2198-D032-ERS3, 2198-D057-ERS3
- CORRECTED: Motor log information web page does not display information for
motor 2. (Lgx00202490)
- CORRECTED: Brake test executes when torque prove is disabled. (Lgx00219715)
- CORRECTED: Drive may require a power cycle after inhibiting and quickly
uninhibiting an axis while the motor feedback cable is disconnected.
(Lgx00196322)
- CORRECTED: Drive may exhibit an intermittent 10-millisecond delay in the
registration inputs. (Lgx00200217)
- CORRECTED: A registration event may not be detected if any digital input is
reconfigured via a MSG instruction while registration is armed. (Lgx00220193)
- CORRECTED: Drive incorrectly handles a non-zero commutation offset for incremental encoders (Digital AqB with UVW and Sine/Cosine with UVW). After the firmware upgrade, the commutation offset in an existing Studio 5000 Logix Designer project may need to be modified. (Lgx00207433)
- CORRECTED: Inverter diagnostics for axes 1 and 3 are swapped on the front
panel display. (Lgx00220359)
- CORRECTED: If an axis is connected to an induction motor, a MSF or a power
cycle may be required if a STO event occurs while executing a MSO instruction.
(Lgx00222280)
- CORRECTED: A torque linearity issue can occur with interior permanent magnet
motors. (Lgx00221981)

Drive Instability With Wall Clock Time Update Requests and Grandmaster Clock
Changes
Requests to update the controller wall clock time in applications that use
Integrated Motion over an EtherNet/IP network can cause drive instability.
The following are examples of wall clock time update requests:
- Logix Clock Update tool update request
- Studio 5000 Clock Sync service
- Changing the controller date and time via controller properties in Studio
5000
- Execution of add-on instructions that request a wall clock time update
In addition, drive instability can occur when the Grandmaster clock changes from
one module to another. The following are examples of drive behavior when the
anomaly occurs:
- Drive fails to follow commands
- Drive positioning errors
- Sync faults
Configure the controller Grandmaster clock priority to prevent the Grandmaster
clock from switching to a different module and do not update the wall clock time
while there is an active motion connection. Inhibit all axes before changing the
wall clock time and the Grandmaster clock priorities. Alternatively, reset the
motion connection by inhibiting and uninhibiting the Ethernet module that is
handling the motion connection between the controller and axes.
