Requirements
This release has the following requirements.
FactoryTalk View ME version 8.20.00 (CPR 9 SR 8)
Hardware requirements
- Personal computer with an Intel Pentium 4 processor (2 GHz or faster processor
recommended).
- Memory (RAM): 1 GB (or more) for 32-bit systems. A minimum of 2 GB required for
64-bit operating systems.
- Hard disk space: Minimum 1.5 GB.
Supported operating systems
FactoryTalk View Machine Edition is tested and supported on the operating systems
installed from original Microsoft media only. For operating systems installed by the

Features
This release includes the following system features.
FactoryTalk View ME version 8.20.00 has the following new and enhanced features:
Electronic signature function
FactoryTalk View Machine Edition 8.20.00 provides the electronic signature function to
record and secure the execution of an action at run time.
Enhanced inactivity timeout function
FactoryTalk View Machine Edition 8.20.00 provides the Inactivity tab in the Project
Settings dialog box to set up advanced automatic logout actions.
MobileView support in ME Transfer Utility
ME Transfer Utility is enhanced to transfer a runtime application file (.mer) to and from a
MobileView terminal, and to compare a runtime application on a MobileView terminal
with a runtime application on a desktop computer.
Usability enhancements
- Design-time language switching - FactoryTalk View Machine Edition 8.20.00
provides the Change Application Language dialog box to switch application
languages at design time to check the layout of translated text.
- Design-time graphic object visibility - FactoryTalk View Machine Edition 8.20.00
provides check boxes in front of graphic objects and object groups in the Object
Explorer to hide the objects or groups on the graphic display.
- Resolution settings during application creation - FactoryTalk View Machine
Edition 8.20.00 allows you to select the target terminal and resolution when
creating an application. The resolution of the new application matches the selected
target terminal, eliminating the need to scale the application.
Expanded functional capability
FactoryTalk View Machine Edition 8.20.00 provides new ActiveX controls loaded and
pre-registered in PanelView Plus 7, PanelView Plus 6, and MobileView terminals, and
FactoryTalk View Studio to accelerate application development.
- Chart ActiveX control - This control utilizes two user-defined data types (UDTs),
Chart and DataSeries, to create a data structure.
- CSVDataLog ActiveX control - This control supports a minimum periodic logging
rate of 250ms and generates CSV data log files which contain tamper detection
strings.
CSV Data Log Tamper Detection Utility
FactoryTalk View Machine Edition 8.20.00 provides CSV Data Log Tamper Detection
Utility to:
- Detect the integrity of a CSV data log file that contains tamper detection strings
- Generate a detection report when the detection is completed
- Save the detection report to a text file
Corrected Anomalies in This Release
This release corrects the following anomalies.
The following list identifies the anomalies corrected in FactoryTalk View Machine Edition version 8.20.00.
Alarm
- If an alarm message contains commas, when exporting the alarm history to a CSV
file with File Viewer, the alarm message in the file is separated to multiple columns.

- If an application name contains more than 28 characters, the .apa file created from
this application may fail to be restored in Application Manager. (356393)
Communications
- PanelView Plus 7 Standard terminals with DLR support cannot be recognized in the
device tree on desktops. (356967)
